Manitowoc delivers giant crane to South Korea 920.751.4200 www.mcmgrp.com ne of the world's biggest crane rental companies has taken delivery of one of the world's biggest cranes. Manitowoc has completed delivery of its Manitowoc 31000 to South Korea's Chunjo Construction Co., which has added the 2,300-ton crawler to its rental fleet and will supply it to contractors around the globe, including those working on nuclear power plants. The crane's first job is at a Posco E&C plant in Gwangyang, South Korea, where the company is using cutting-edge technology to make liquefied gas from low-grade coal. Of special interest to Chunjo is the Manitowoc 31000's variable position counterweight (VPC) system, which ranges from 28 feet fully-retracted to 95 feet when fully extended. The VPC minimizes the crane's footprint and ground preparation. As part of the deal for the 31000, Chunjo purchased three 600-ton Manitowoc 18000 crawler cranes to add to its fleet. When working with the MAX-ER attachment, the 18000's capacity is boosted to 750 tons. It has a 320-foot boom. Chunjo owns more Manitowoc 18000s than any other company in the world. International Cranes represented a number of high-profile clients throughout communities in Wisconsin, including Appleton, Oshkosh and Green Bay, for more than 40 years. In 2012, the company negotiated more than $66 million in real estate transactions.
