w w w . i n s i g h t o n b u s i n e s s . c o m O c t o b e r 2 0 15 • I NSIGH T | 9 FROM THE EDITOR IT'S BEEN A THRILL TO SEE PLANS for the new Titletown District taking shape, especially aer much anticipation the past few years. e entire country was treated to walk-around camera angles of the artist's renderings during the NFL national broadcast of the Packers home opener. How cool was that? Plans unveiled in late August reveal the 34- acre, mixed-use development is expected to turn the area around Lambeau Field into a year-round destination by 2017. It will include a public plaza and park-like setting, team-inspired public art and an ice-skating rink in the winter. A four-diamond Kohler hotel with indoor-outdoor garden pool, spa and fitness center; a 20,000-square-foot, two- story Hinterland brew pub and restaurant with retractable exterior walls; and a 30,000-square-foot Bellin Health sports medicine facility are integral to the plan. "e Packers name and brand do a lot for this region," says Kevin J. Vonck, director of the city of Green Bay's economic development department," in this month's New North story by Sean Johnson (see page 10). "We can attract businesses that might not otherwise consider Green Bay." ose hungry for more details (or a really great meal) expected to hear the inside story when Packers Vice President and General Counsel Ed Policy was scheduled to kick off the 2015-16 season of the St. Norbert CEO Breakfast & Strategy Series Oct. 1. As a title sponsor for the series, we at Insight Publications are excited to say the roster of speakers is as strong as always. e series runs from October through May and is held either at the F.K. Bemis International Center on the St. Norbert College campus in De Pere or at Butte des Morts Country Club in Appleton. Speakers start promptly at 7:30 a.m. and busy executives from throughout the region not only get a chance to hear inspiring stories from business leaders but also to meet with one another. e next one, coming up on Oct. 21, features Kurt Brenkus, founder and CEO of Aver Informatics, on "Get the Hell Out of the Way: How to Scale Agile Principals Across the Whole Enterprise." For more on the SNC CEO series, see page 41 or visit www.snc.edu/ ceobreakfast. Another feather in the cap for our region is the newly expanded KI Center in downtown Green Bay. e Greater Green Bay Convention & Visitors Bureau hosted a sneak- peek gala at the KI last month with a big band and Vegas- style trapeze and stunt performers (the hit was the woman in the champagne-glass skirt). It was great to see how the new section of the 80,000-square foot space, the largest meeting facility in the region, now offers wonderful views of the Fox River, not to mention plenty of elbow room for large conventions. I'm pleased to say that one of the first major events at the newly-expanded KI will be co-sponsored by Insight. e Manufacturing First Expo & Conference, also sponsored by First Business Bank and the NEW Manufacturing Alliance, will be two days for the first time ever, on Oct. 21 and 22. Keynote speaker Ryan Estis will kick off the main event at 8 a.m. on Oct. 22 with a message for manufacturers who want to make a positive impact in the face of a continually changing climate for industry. How to address a labor shortage will be part of his presentation, and those who have heard him speak say he's quite entertaining. See our Connections feature on page 20 for more. At Insight we're proud to play an important role in sharing information among manufacturers with our bi- monthly Insight on Manufacturing magazine. Look for details on the conference in both this issue and the most recent issue of IOM. And, as always, I hope to see you there! Getting down in Green Bay
