The company's president, Bob Abboud, made the pitch to residents of the Town of Carlton in mid-July, but the plant's owner, Dominion, maintains the plant is not for sale and that it will continue with plans to decommission the facility and remove the spent nuclear fuel. Additionally, the U.S. Nuclear Regulatory Agency says RGA would need to meet its guidelines as a qualified purchaser, then go through a process that would likely take several years. RGA maintains the plant could be operated profitably for decades to come. It had expressed an interest in purchasing the plant when Dominion had it on the market in 2012, but that prospect never advanced beyond the preliminary stages. Wind Works continues to actively market the supply chain at conferences and energy events around the country. Removing the financing hurdle Neal R. Verfuerth is a true believer when it comes to the business value of investing in energy efficiency. The founder and former CEO of Orion Energy Systems has also learned the challenge facing many companies before making that investment is upfront costs. It's hard to convince company leaders of the long-term payoff of an energy efficiency project when they are looking at how the initial capital costs will affect the immediate bottom line. Verfuerth's latest venture, Energybank, seeks to remove that hurdle. Energybank, which Verfuerth founded in 2012, is specifically designed to not only encourage those investments, but to make the math work for company leadership. The new company is both a financial services and technical sales organization. It will identify proven efficiency projects and bring those projects online in a way that delivers a predictable return for project investors. The goal: Show companies they don't have to settle on the cheapest up-front option if they want to realize long-term savings.
