When h.J. martin & son held its big warehouse sale event in late april, company leaders recalled that lori Fulcer of the neenah-based international children's Fund had been in touch a few months earlier. "some of the product didn't sell, so we remembered lori's call about all the individuals in africa and how she's trying to help them," says David martin of h.J. martin & son. "at's the reason why we donated so much flooring to them this year – because of her passion." h.J. martin & son's donation of 13,480 square feet of flooring was shipped to rural towns in liberia and sierra leone and used to help finish building projects like a church, school, clinic and multi-purpose building. e shipment encompassed batches of flooring insufficient to complete most local jobs or that was out of style or discontinued, the company says. international children's Fund, founded in neenah about 35 years ago by Dr. David bruenning, is a christian organization that coordinates and ships donations to villages in africa, working closely with orphanages and other partners to provide shelter and clean water. e organization depends on donations to fulfill its mission. "We couldn't do what we do without the support of other organizations and companies and our donors," Fulcer says. "We receive things in the door every day from different people that just come in and have a heart for people in need overseas. b a c k o f f i c e Giving hope Donations from h.J. martin & son, others aid charitable efforts overseas By Nikki kallio International Children's Fund in Neenah used a donation of tile flooring from Habitat ReStore to help finish this building in Liberia. p h o t o g r a p h s c o u r t e s y o f I n t e r n at I o n a l c h I l d r e n ' s f u n d
