SOCIAL RESPONSIBILITY Giving back and providing support to our neighbors. The Y is the unparalleled cause for strengthening community because we are the community. We are a powerful association of men, women and children joined together by a shared commitment to nurturing the potential of kids, promoting healthy living and fostering a sense of social responsibility. We believe that lasting personal and social change can only come about when we all work together to invest in our kids, our health and our neighbors. Every day, we work side by side with our neighbors in our community to make sure that everyone, regardless of age, income or background, has the opportunity to learn, grow and thrive. Annual Campaign - Everyone knows the Y as 4 letters: YMCA. But from A to Z, the Y brings communities so much more. From exercise to education, from volleyball to volunteerism, the Y strengthens our community. The Y offers swim lessons, but they also give scholarships and financinal assistance to those who need it most. Military Outreach Program - The Y offers free memberships to families of deployed soldiers and "active duty independent duty" military personnel, such as recruitment officers, and their families as part of the YMCA of the USA, the Armed Services YMCA and Department of Defense Outreach Initiative. The program offers military families access to youth development and health and well-being programs, provided they visit the Y facility a certain number of times per month. In addition, the Outreach Initiative offers respite child care services for children whose parent or guardian needs temporary respite from their role as primary caregiver in the absence of a deployed spouse. Investing in our Future Locally Driven - The Y is created by the local community based on a regional needs assessment and is controlled by a local board of community volunteers. Volunteers - This year, our Y has mobilized more than 5,000 volunteers to serve the community. Key Partnerships - Recognizing the importance of collaborations, our Y created key partnerships with over 100 businesses and agencies throughout the Fox Cities, Oshkosh, Door County and Green Bay areas. Healthy Kids Day - As part of a nationwide effort to encourage kids to get moving, the Y hosts Healthy Kids Day, the nation's largest health day for kids and families. Healthy Kids Day is filled with fun, engaging and creative activities that foster healthy living, and is a part of the Y's larger efforts to help more kids and families become physically active. All activities are free and open to the public. Corporate Partnership Program - Designed to offer local organizations and businesses an option for employee wellness programs, these partnerships make memberships available to a larger population while saving companies money, increasing employee productivity and lowering healthcare expenditures.
