Mobilizing " AT THE BROWN COUNTY UNITED WAY we are as busy as ever. We have spoken oſten about our traditional model of operating a communitywide campaign to fund prevention and basic needs programming in Brown County. We continue to commit to these support services, especially during these current economic times. This year the campaign will be led by Mike Haddad, president and chief executive officer of Schreiber Foods, along with Denis Hogan, market president at Associated Bank, along with a great campaign cabinet. Our new director of resource development, Kelly Ellis, has helped recruit almost 100 volunteers to drive this process. This year we completed a communitywide LIFE (Leading Indicators for Excellence) Study needs assessment, along with the Greater Green Bay Community Foundation and the Green Bay Area Chamber of Commerce. Community and leader surveys, focus groups, expert interviews and secondary data provided a vivid picture of life in Brown County. You can learn more at www.lifestudy.info. The LIFE Study partners have since worked closely with the Bay Area Community Council to facilitate a two-day conference that was attended by more than 200 people to uncover key community issues. Five significant topics surfaced for the community to invest in, including: Education, Overcoming Divisions, Economic Development, Health and Self-Sufficiency. Now it is up to the community to partner on increasing capacity in these key areas, or in other cases focused on solving issues. To support this effort, we're designing and implementing a Community Information System that will allow us to see, in real time, the impact our services are having. We are also holding community conversations with groups from every walk of life. This is enhancing our understanding of what people want, and need, in our community, and has proven invaluable to our strategic work. If you' one of these discussions, just give us a call. Thank you for your ongoing trust and support of the Brown County United Way. UW GREGG A. HETUE, BROWN COUNTY UNITED WAY PRESIDENT AND CEO d like to host
