Sharon elaborated, "Mitch and I started a tradition where we fire up the deep fryer and cook up a pile of fish along with all the fixin's. It's a great chance early in the week to meet all the guests, make new friends and share those fishing stories so people know where the best action is." In my opinion, this is a special part of the culture created by Sharon and Mitch. Not only did their guests share fishing experiences at the cookout, but it seemed like it was a nightly occurrence at the fish cleaning house. You know I'm a fishing nut when I tell you how much I enjoy a quality fish cleaning house. Sharon's facility is complete with stainless steel counters, fillet boards, wash areas and even freezers. Awesome! Back to our day with Sharon. Aer lunch we motor through several rice bays and up a small creek to Minnehaha Lake. It is home to a beautiful waterfall. Only one other boat was sharing the lake with us today. is family was enjoying a refreshing swim on a shoreline near the waterfall. e water in Minnehaha is crystal clear and the northern pike put on a spectacular underwater show for us. You could witness powerful attacks on your spinner bait during long retrieves. e toothy "gators" seemed to appear out of nowhere to snatch it. Many a fish would chase the lure back to the boat and provide a vicious point-blank strike when you ended your retrieve with an enticing figure-eight. Breathtaking! As we started securing our gear for the trip back to the resort, Sharon pointed out a portage trail leading up to a deeper, clear lake above the waterfall.
