KI CONVENTION CENTER IN GREEN BAY, WI WWW.MANUFACTURINGFIRST.COM MANUFACTURING FIRST PARTNERSHIP WITH NEWMA PARTNERSHIP WITH INSIGHT SCHOL ARSHIPS FOR SKILLED WORKFORCE Since the start of Manufacturing First in 2011, the NEW Manufacturing Alliance (NEWMA) has been intimately involved in planning the Manufacturing First Expo & Conference. It's truly a conference developed by manufacturers, for manufacturers. Launched to raise awareness of the high-skilled, high-tech jobs available in the industry, NEWMA works with educators, workforce development, chambers of commerce, and state organizations to promote manufacturing throughout the region. With over 160 members — mostly manufacturers — NEWMA employs more than 30 percent of the manufacturing workforce in the 18-county region of New North. Launched in 2006, the Alliance focuses on improving the image of manufacturing careers and building a skilled workforce. BIGGER MISSION Benefits of joining the NEW Manufacturing Alliance include: Access to a displaced workforce of skilled labor, regular meetings and task-force meetings where members can compare notes and collaborate to develop solutions, grant opportunities, resources such as website links and internship postings, newsletters and surveys, as well as booth space and event tickets to Manufacturing First. YEAR LONG INITIATIVE NEWMA sponsors the annual Manufacturing Vitality Index, which surveys manufacturers throughout Northeast Wisconsin and compares results year after year. The results inform manufacturers of industry trends in hiring, expansions, and workforce development. The organization also sponsors the annual All Stars publication, which spotlights outstanding young employees in manufacturing. For more information, go to: www.newmfgalliance.org. Insight Publications LLC helps coordinate and promote Manufacturing First Expo & Conference, from assisting in the development of content, to promoting exhibit space and sponsorships. The company publishes Insight on Manufacturing, a bi-monthly magazine with a mission to connect companies with skilled workers and educational resources in the New North. It also covers manufacturing-related issues in its monthly business-to-business magazine, Insight. Working closely with the NEW Manufacturing Alliance, Insight produces the annual All Stars magazine, mailed to every IOM subscriber and distributed to high schools and technical colleges throughout Northeast Wisconsin. Insight staff members serve on the NEWMA Communications Committee as well as the Manufacturing First event planning committee. For more information, go to www.insightonmfg.com or www.insightonbusiness.com. NEWMA presents outstanding high school students interested in manufacturing careers with scholarships from member dues and part of the proceeds of Manufacturing First. This year, NEWMA will award $30,000 in college scholarships for students to attend a two- or four-year college in the New North. The Alliance funds bussing for students to tour manufacturing companies; it also helps coordinate bussing for some 500 students to attend the Manufacturing First event.
