M I D -Y E A R R E P O R T 2 015 3 Forging stronger links to grow NE Wisconsin Jerry Murphy New North, Inc. Executive Director What a great year...and we're only at the halfway mark! We're at that point in several ongoing projects where the work is transitioning from R&D to production to going live or going to market. We are rolling out a very new, very improved supply chain marketing tool made possible via a strong partnership of federal, state and local economic development organizations formed to address the regional economic impact of a slowdown in defense contracting at Oshkosh Corporation. At the end of the day, we hope to build strength in the regional defense industry supply chain serving Oshkosh and Marinette Marine. Strategically, that work will extend into unique, diverse market opportunities for resident businesses and industries throughout the region. I encourage you to read the featured story about that project. e project is very strategic and far-reaching in terms of our economic development. New website sophistication is the end result of a rebuild of our website. is is the third modification to the site in 10 years and it is by far the most customer-oriented, enabling customers to utilize any mobile or desktop device to navigate content on the go. is new site also ushers in a new talent recruitment tool that supports several talent development strategies going forward. Finally, the success of the manufacturing and other industry-centric alliances is providing a proven pathway to redress the region's strategic approach to filling information technology talent needs. e unique element here is that it is not industry-centric; it is a talent gap that crosses virtually all regional business sectors and mirrors the growth in communications, data management and technical support functions found in our business and personal lives. is story sets the stage for tactical work that will become the talent agenda for the balance of this year and all of next year. Like all of our report stories, they hopefully reflect that we are fundamentally fueled and driven by collaborations and partnerships; I hope that you see that within the stories and, more important, I hope that you recognize our partners and collaborators as the work becomes results. Miron Construction is not only proud to be a continued supporter of the New North, but to have a hands-on impact on the economic development of the New North region. We are thrilled to begin construction on One Menasha Center, a project that will certainly spur continued development in revitalized downtown Menasha.
