"When I tell people I am from Oshkosh they immediately make the connection to EAA or aviation," says Audra Hoy, director of AeroInnovate. "We really have a great brand equity to build on here." With more than 500,000 visitors making the journey to Oshkosh each year, area businesses benefit greatly from tourism traffic. e weeklong event, July 20 to 26, brings in an estimated $110 million economic impact to the Oshkosh-area counties each year. A business with close ties to EAA and AirVenture is hoping to also bring industry leaders to Oshkosh this year. AeroInnovate, an aviation-related economic development organization, will hold its Pitch and Mingle event on July 21 at Wittman Regional Airport. e event provides leaders and potential investors from around the world an opportunity to network and hear from five early- to mid-stage aviation startup companies. e event directly ties into efforts to build upon the growing aerospace industry cluster and supply chain identified in Northeast Wisconsin. "e Pitch and Mingle event is truly an event that opens the door for many small aviation businesses," Hoy says. "With the world's top aviation leaders that attend each year, this is a perfect platform for the event and we are extremely proud to partner with EAA." — By Andrew Schaick Aviation City
