GPS EDUCATION PARTNERS HOLDS 'SHARK TANK' CHALLENGE Senior students participating in GPS Education Partners' Youth Apprentice program will face a fun, new challenge for this spring's Product Launch Challenge. Students participating in the project work individually or in small groups, brainstorming different product ideas that either make an everyday task easier, can be used for recreation or that will solve a problem or improve safety at a business. This year's entrants will then present their projects to a panel styled after the popular "Shark Tank" television series in which entrepreneurs try to convince well- known investors to buy in to their project. A panel of local business leaders and manufacturers will be the judges (the "Sharks") and will rate the product campaign and announce the winner of a $1,000 scholarship donated by the NEW Manufacturing Alliance. The students learn about "The 4 P's of Marketing" (product, price, placing and promotion) and develop a product launch campaign. Students will work with mentors throughout the project, with a final presentation April 2 at Northeast Wisconsin Technical College. Judges on the panel are Kurt Voss, Amerilux; Jim Koronkiewicz, Badger Paper Mill; Mark Kaiser, Lindquist Machine; Mitch Weckop, Skyline Technologies; Rick Recktenwald, Walker Forge; and Jim Golembeski, Bay Area Workforce Development.
