The awards were presented at a reception at the Lakeshore Culinary Institute in February. Curt G. Joa Company in Sheboygan Falls was recognized for helping to improve instruction, curriculum and real-world experience for students at Plymouth High School in the area of Technology Education and Engineering. Joa offered instructor training through summer employment to help instructors gain better insight of what is expected of students going into industry. Louie Gentine, CEO of Sargento, was recognized as an advocate for career and technical education and for his business and education partnerships, including supporting development of the LTC-Plymouth Science & Technology Center and the proposed Plymouth Food Science & Agriculture Center. Teacher Mary Leonhard of Sheboygan Central High School was recognized for helping develop the Early College program at Central High School and for her dedication to the Project GRILL program at Central. More than 87,000 of Wisconsin's high school students are taking Career and Technical Education courses, more than two-thirds of Wisconsin's high school population. Areas of study stretch across a variety of disciplines, such as health occupations, manufacturing, technology and engineering, agriculture and business. CMD RECOGNIZED AS A BEST PLACE TO WORK Machinery manufacturer CMD Corporation of Appleton was named one of the Best Places to Work in the Plastics Industry by the trade publication "Plastics News" and Best Companies Group. The Best Places to Work program was designed to identify and honor the best employers in the plastics industry; those benefiting the economy, workforce and businesses in the United States and Canada. Ten companies were chosen; CMD ranked seventh on the list. EVENT|NEWS CONVERTERS EXPO COMING TO LAMBEAU APRIL 16 T he 2015 Converters Expo will be held in the Lambeau Field Atrium on Thursday, April 16. The expo features paper, film and nonwovens converters and suppliers. Planned exhibitors include those in rewinding and sheeting; folding and finishing; packaging, warehousing, shipping and logistics; coating, laminating and adhesives; flexographic printing and inks; equipment and associated engineering; automation and handling experts; and testing and product development.
