"We've also been collecting toys and other donations throughout the year for patients at Children's Hospital in Milwaukee, and will deliver them just before Christmas," Van Den Brandt says. Additionally, the company's nearly 40 employee mentors deliver Christmas gifts to students at Appleton's Foster Elementary School during the holidays. To show their thanks, the students sing Christmas carols in Secura's café. Green Bay-based Georgia-Pacific's United Way Holiday Gift Drive is under way. The gifts are delivered to several recipient organizations. "The past couple of years, it's been Family & Childcare Resources of N.E.W. and Howe Neighborhood Family Resource Center," says Mike Kawleski, public affairs manager for Georgia-Pacific. December is also a big month for "ServiceForce," the company's employee volunteer program. Georgia-Pacific's employees, retirees and family members give their time and service year round for both company-sponsored service projects and individual activities in their communities. "Our employees register for ServiceForce and we then can let them know about volunteering activities based on their interests and skills," Kawleski says.
