UPFRONT connections By Sean Lyons Cultivating growth Fox Cities Chamber of Commerce aims to inspire business owners to succeed 22 | Insight • S e p t e m b e r 2 013 c ourt e s y of t h e F o x C i t i e s C h a m b e r of Co m m e r c e & In d ustr y T he Fox Cities Chamber of Commerce & Industry hosts its second Cultivate: Business Growth Series event from 7:30 a.m. to 1 p.m. Tuesday, Sept. 10 at the Holiday Inn Riverwalk in Neenah. With the mission to offer "tactical, practical tips," the chamber hopes to inspire business owners with information they can implement in their businesses immediately. Topics will focus on four main tracks: strategic planning, finance and technology, sales and marketing and performance management. The previous Cultivate event, held in January, drew 165 attendees. The chamber hopes to double attendance at the September event. "The purpose of the event is to provide a platform of education for area business leaders on new and widespread business topics," says Kristin Sewall, marketing director for the chamber. Former Yahoo chief security officer and author Tim Sanders will deliver the keynote, "Relationship Power! How to Win Business & Influence People." Sanders is the author of four books: "Love is the Killer App: How to Win Business & Influence Friends," "The Likeability Factor," "Saving the World at Work" and "Today We Are Rich: Harnessing the Power of Total Confidence." "Cultivate was one of the best business events I have been to in a Steve Tyink, vice president of Business Innovation of Miron Construction in Neenah speaks at the previous Cultivate event on Jan. 10. while," says Brad Cebulski, president and owner of BConnected LLC in Appleton. "I was able to pick out the breakout sessions that pertained specifically to my business and network with other prominent business leaders in the area. I personally can't wait for the second one." Breakout sessions will follow the keynote; speakers will be announced as they are confirmed. The cost to attend includes breakfast and lunch. Tickets are $85 per person for members and members of co-hosting organizations; $70 for PULSE members or organizations bringing three or more employees; or $125 per person for VIP packages and non-members. VIP packages include "The Premier Experience," which includes a reception with keynote speaker Tim Sanders and other speakers from 5 to 7 p.m. the evening before the event at Carmella's with complementary hors d'oeuvres and cash bar, plus VIP seating during the keynote address at the event. Upcoming events Monday, Sept. 9 The Venture Center at Fox Valley Technical College will launch its 15week E-seed entrepreneur training program. Sessions will be held at FVTC's D.J.
