4 I N D E V E L O P M E N T 2 0 1 8 TITLETOWN Titletown a game changer for Northeastern Wisconsin A s the Green Bay Packers prepare to celebrate their 100th season of football in 2018, it is worth noting the unique relationship the team has with the community. Symbiotic in many ways, the relationship has helped the team succeed and prosper for a century against daunting odds. Through season-ticket drives, five stock sales and numerous other forms of support, the community has come through to help give the franchise a stable base on which to build a championship team. The Packers have returned on the community's investment in a number of ways, including 13 world championships, an iconic stadium that is a bucket-list destination and worldwide brand recognition that is the envy of like-sized communities across the country. More directly, the team has strengthened the community through charitable support that now exceeds more than $8 million in impact annually. Recently, the organization has evolved its support to include economic development, and Titletown is the centerpiece. Located directly west of Lambeau Field, Titletown is a nearly 45-acre mixed-use development that has begun to maximize its unique location near the venerable stadium to attract more visitors to the area, spur additional regional economic growth, offer new amenities to residents and complement the greater Green Bay area's draw as an excellent location to live, work, play and visit. "We see Titletown as a long-term, authentic neighborhood for this community that will help us compete to attract and retain people," Packers President and CEO Mark Murphy says. "The community has kept this franchise going. With the support we've received, Lambeau Field has become a destination, and this development will further build upon that success." While the organization unveiled its vision for the development in August of 2015, planning had been underway for nearly a decade.
