It offers residents and visitors the premier Door County waterfront destination including: • Access to the water with the planned festival dock, event stage and commercial pier including excursion boats, transient boat docks and boat rentals. • Bringing together Door County's maritime heritage through the Maritime Museum, the neighboring U.S. Coast Guard Cutter Mobile Bay and Sawyer Park along with the working waterfront with Bay Shipbuilding, Palmer Johnson Yachts and Selvick Tugs. • The Redevelopment Plan includes additional commercial and residential development opportunities including the possible reuse of a 100-year-old granary located directly on the waterfront between the new hotel and the existing Maritime Museum. The West Waterfront Redevelopment Project would include: a. Boutique Hotel Project. Developer is Sawyer Hotel Development LLC, Robert Papke, Principal, Sturgeon Bay. Builder is Bayland Builders, Green Bay. b. Granary Redevelopment Project. City is seeking proposals for redevelopment of the historic granary building or site. c. Observation Tower Addition to Door County Maritime Museum. The museum is in the planning and fundraising phase for construction of a 100-foot observation tower addition to the current museum. d. Harbor Place Redevelopment Project. Proposal expected from developer soon for this site that sustained a fire in 2014 that destroyed the former Harbor Place commercial facility. Proposal expected to include first-floor commercial and upper floor market rate residential. e. 14 S. Madison Redevelopment Project.
