"We sat down for a full day and said, 'What are you getting out of your recent hires — and what aren't you getting?'" Trimberger says. Scott Kuehn, technical talent acquisition coordinator at Bemis, says while early meetings were focused on companies' specific needs, "we all came to the same conclusion that regardless of who comes out of the high school and ends up getting into a technical school, we're all in this together." A funding plan has yet to be established, though the school district has so far committed about $300,000 to the project. Industry leaders are discussing what to contribute.
