Food products lead gain in
manufacturing employment

Appleton, Green Bay see growth
1. Milwaukee: 48,132 workers, down
5.2% from a year ago.
2. Green Bay, 21,940 workers, up .5 %.
3. Madison, 17,226 workers, down 5.1%.
4. Waukesha, 15,962 workers, up 1.7%.
5. Appleton, 14,571 jobs, up 2.2%.

Wisconsin manufacturers added 5,796 industrial jobs
from July 2013 to July 2014, or about
1 percent,
comparable to the
1.1% national average.
Wisconsin is home to
10,977 manufacturers
employing
574,347 workers.
The food products industry led the gain, posting a
3%
increase in employment. Growth is expected to continue
as Thiel Cheese and Ingredients and the Irish Dairy
Board partner on a
$12 million expansion in Hilbert,
and Schreiber Foods expands a yogurt plant in Richland
Center. Food manufacturers in Wisconsin employ
68,592, ranking second in the state for industrial jobs.
The industrial machinery sector accounts for the most
manufacturing jobs in Wisconsin, employing
102,734,
1%
more than a year ago. Third-ranked fabricated metals
also posted a
1% gain and accounts for 68,583 jobs.
