The training provided is quite diverse from teaching skills to people who have never worked on a ship before to teaching experienced welders what it's like to work in a shipyard. "What happened in Marinette is a great example of a manufacturer being proactive and reaching out to other organizations to make sure it has the necessary workers," says Golembeski, adding that other marine related businesses, such as Palmer Johnson in Sturgeon Bay, also benefit from the center. They saw doing it that way was too expensive, especially if someone just stayed a few years," says UW-Oshkosh Chancellor Richard Wells. "Now, they want turnkey employees, people who come in and know exactly how the industry works and what to do."
