Live, from New North Employers, organizations team up to fill skills gap with real world training | By Mar y Be th Matze k I t all comes down to simple math. That's how Jim Golembeski describes the situation in the New North – and actually Wisconsin. We simply don't have enough skilled workers to meet the needs of businesses and organizations. "With the baby boom generation, there were so many employees and potential employees that companies could choose from," says Golembeski, executive director of the Bay Area Workforce Board. "Now as those employees are retiring, there aren't enough to fill their shoes and some of those workers 22 N e w n o r t h , i n c. Report 13 coming up aren't tuned in to all of the possibilities available, so you need to be proactive to find the right employees." Smart companies know this and are teaming up with partners – whether it's educational institutions or organizations like the one Golembeski heads up – to ensure they have the workers they need to continue to grow. For the past decade, the New North and its partner organizations, such as the NEW Manufacturing Alliance and NEW ERA, have led the charge in fostering collaboration among businesses, educational institutions, government bodies and more to help companies thrive.
