When Brian Rasmussen and Margaret LeBrun decided to launch Insight Publications, they saw the first signs of what would become the worst economic recession since the Great Depression. But they saw an opportunity. ���It���s summed up in our mission,��� says LeBrun, co-publisher and executive editor. ���We are about connecting minds and creating insights. We are about bringing big ideas and the right people together.��� The New North was in its infancy, but the creation of the 18-county economic development group led to a need to share business information regionwide. Insight competed for, and earned, the job of producing the New North mid-year and annual reports. Other niche publications followed, such as the United Way campaign brochures for Brown County and the Fox Cities. ���Insight really knows how to connect people,��� says Michael A. Lanser, president of Lakeshore Technical College. To encourage communication among manufacturers in the region, Insight on Manufacturing published first, debuting at the New North Summit in 2007. The flagship publication, Insight, launched in April 2008. Insight Publications LLC won the Rising Star award from the Fox Cities Chamber of Commerce in 2011 and the company recently announced it will move to a paid, audited subscription model this year. To bring its readers together face-to-face, the company began coordinating annual events that appeal to commercial developers, manufacturers and a special event for business innovators, THINC! (set for May 14; see page 18). ���At the end of the day, you want to feel like you did something to make the business community better,��� says Rasmussen, co-publisher and director of sales and marketing. ��� Sean Johnson w w w. i n s i g h t o n b u s i n e s s . c o m
