This year's event will feature Mike Staver, author of "Leadership Isn't for Cowards." The manufacturing event, which will be held Oct. 30 at the KI Convention Center in Green Bay, is one of the state's largest. More than 1,200 people attended in 2018. Staver, an internationally respected speaker, is known for taking noisy, complex leadership content and making it entertaining and easy to understand. Training magazine recently ranked some of his work No. 1 on its 2018 Training Top 125 list, which recognizes organizations with successful learning and development programs. Prior to Staver's keynote address, David Kohler, president and CEO of the Kohler Co., will deliver a special welcome and presentation. Manufacturing First features numerous special presentations and breakout sessions. Nominations open for NEWMA's K-12 education partnerships awards Nominations are open for the NEW Manufacturing Alliance's eighth annual Excellence in Manufacturing/K-12 Partnerships Awards, slated for Oct. 29 at the KI Convention Center in Green Bay. The event will spotlight best practices of manufacturing and education collaborations throughout Northeast Wisconsin as well as showcasing top talent from local manufacturing companies. Last year, NEWMA presented awards to six manufacturers and eight educators and schools, as well as a Community Partnership Award. The alliance also will announce its 2020 All Star Award winners at the October event. This award recognizes top talent at alliance member companies. The event is one of many highlighting the state's designation of October as Manufacturing Month. In the past, the event has drawn more than 400 attendees and raised more than $14,000 in college scholarships. The Alliance has awarded $250,000 in college scholarships over the past 11 years.
