The making of the mobile offices for the National Guard will likely open other markets for the company’s portable 8-foot-by-10-foot structures. RECYCLING FIRM EYES SHEBOYGAN Green EnviroTech Holdings Corp. has announced it received a commitment for $5 million in financing to open a closed Sheboygan factory as a plastics recycling operation. The firm plans to turn now- unusable waste destined for landfills into increasingly valuable plastics and even oil. The idea is to take “fluff” — the nonmetallic waste that remains after shredding old cars and appliances — and purge it of contaminants, then harvest plastic and rubber that can be made into resin and reused. Sheboygan’s Common Council approved issuing $25 million in bonds to help the company buy and equip the former International Automotive Components facility. The company says it plans to hire 125 employees. Green EnviroTech previously tried to open a similar facility in Fond du Lac, but could not secure the necessary funding. WAUPACA FIRM EYES EXPANSION Gusmer Enterprises, a developer and manufacturer of fermentation nutrition in Waupaca, received $73,000 in economic development tax credits from the Wisconsin Department of Commerce for an expansion project. Gusmer is upgrading its facility and purchasing new equipment to help handle business growth. The $1.45 million project is expected to create 16 jobs and retain 82. ARIENS JOINS STATE BOARD Dan Ariens, president and CEO of Ariens Co. in Brillion, has been appointed to the board of Wisconsin Economic Development Corp., which is scheduled to replace the state Department of Commerce in July. The public-private corporation will be governed by a 13-member board of directors. Paul Jadin, former Green Bay mayor and chamber of commerce president, will be CEO of the organization. Jadin was appointed commerce secretary by Gov. Scott Walker after his election in November. Ariens is the panel’s vice board chair with the governor serving as board chair. Ariens of De Pere heads the Ariens Co., a manufacturer of lawn tractors, zero-turn mowers, electric riding mowers and snow blowers. Ariens joined the company, founded by his great-grandfather, in 1983 and became president and CEO in 1998. Ariens is a member of the Northeast Wisconsin Regional Economic Development, the YPO/ WPO Young Presidents’ Organization Intercontinental Chapter and Chief Executive Officers Organization. Ariens is one of three state business representatives on the committee. The other two are Don Weber, company founder and CEO of Logistics Health Inc., and Lisa Mauer, president and owner of Tool Service Corporation. Scott Klug, managing director of public affairs for Foley & Larder, and C. Thomas Sylke of Sylke Law Offices are also on the panel, along with several legislators and the state secretaries of Revenue and Administration. NEWTON FIRM COMPLETES ADDITION A.H. Stock Manufacturing is nearing the end of construction on a 6,000-square-foot addition at its Newton facility. A builder and fabricator of metal products for a variety of industries, A.H. Stock plans to add its first laser machine in the expanded workspace. MCCREARY OUT AT MARINETTE MARINE Richard McCreary is no longer leading Marinette Marine Corp., one of the New North’s largest employers. McCreary left Marinette Marine for undisclosed reasons in early June.
