In our earliest days, growth was fueled by a combination of brute force, unyielding dedication to family, a relentless work ethic, and downright German determination. The pencil lead has since turned digital and our earliest machine installations are long obsolete, yet those same Midwestern Wisconsin values continue to guide and grow our company. Our eight satellite offices across the country are strategically positioned to rapidly respond to industrial customers. We regularly employ over 900 craftsmen at any one time and more than 180 office personnel. We are proud to employ the third generations of several hardworking families. C.R. Meyer and Sons Co. is committed to maintaining and promoting a company-wide safety culture. We were the first contractor in the United States to be selected for the star level of the Voluntary Protection Program (VPP) Mobile Workforce Demonstration program by T H E S T A R T U P O F A B U S I N E S S I S something of a big-bang, a life-changing event — at least, for the owners. One day, an official name is filed with the state, the next day, the entrepreneurs are pouring their blood, sweat and tears into the venture, working out of garages and kitchens, cars and coffee shops. The first dollar comes in and is taped to the wall. The business grows. Paid employees are hired and eventually, the owners begin to pay themselves, too. If it makes it past the proverbial third or seventh year, perhaps the business blossoms. Then one day, a landmark anniversary arrives … and it's time to celebrate! As we at Insight Publications enter our landmark 10th year in business, we know this yearning to celebrate. This sense of accomplishment, of gratification, stirred our desire to share the success stories of other businesses in Northeast Wisconsin. So many companies in the New North have marked landmark anniversaries in recent years, we thought, why not offer a chance to share them in one special Anniversary issue? OSHA, a premier acknowledgment of worksites that do an excellent job of protecting their employees. Another accomplishment was being chosen as the Associated General Contractors (AGC) first 'Safety ACE' recipient. To receive this high distinction, C.R. Meyer and Sons Co. successfully met the four-step qualification process and achieved the highest level, Level III, 'Safety ACE' standard. This culture, the values we share as a company, and the good people who make us who we are, have shaped this proud history. Our success is only possible because of the loyalty and support of our customers. Just as we celebrate multiple generations of families in our talented workforce, we honor the many customers who have trusted us for decades — and some, well over a century. These treasured relationships are the foundation of our work and the focus of our future. With sincere gratitude, we look back. With energy and enthusiasm, we stride forward. INFORMATION CORPORATE OFFICE 895 W. 20TH AVE. OSHKOSH, WI 54902 (920) 235-3350 CRMEYER.COM CR MEYER Cheers to those celebrating LANDMARK YEARS! From C.R. Meyer and Sons Company (see below), celebrating 130 years this year, to Oshkosh Corp. (on the back cover), which observed its centennial last July, there's a whole lot of pride in these stories. We've featured some of them in Insight magazine in recent years, but everything in this special section is told in the words of the companies themselves, as sponsored content. In April, Insight will mark its 10th year with the redesign of our monthly magazine. We're reserving that issue to share our own story. I think you'll find the stories in this issue inspiring. Consider it a snapshot representing just a few tales of entrepreneurship success in the New North. Kick back, pop a cork — and enjoy!
