WHEN LEXUS COMES CALLING WITH A REQUEST TO
build a prototype yacht that incorporates the company's design principles
and applies them in a new way, it can be a little intimidating. No pressure,
right?
Luckily, Pulaski-based Marquis Yachts was up to the challenge. Aer two
years of work, the 42-foot open sport yacht, which for now remains a concept
cra, debuted in January at a Lexus-hosted media event in Miami Beach, Fla.
e premium performance yacht, which features twin high-
performance Lexus V8 engines, is designed for recreational day touring
and holds six to eight people.
Marquis worked with Diesel Frabetti Design of Italy as well as
Lexus designers and Toyota Marine engineers to ensure they met the
high standards of Lexus. Paul Liss, vice president of operations and
manufacturing for Marquis, says the project helped raise the company's
quality and construction standards to new levels.
"It really shows the dedication and crasmanship of the employees to
build a one-off bespoke sport yacht with the expectations of Lexus," says
Matthew Vetzner, vice president of marketing for Marquis. "ey should all
be proud."
