Pickslyde Consulting RICHARD POLLOCK CLMI Safety Training M3 INSURANCE, SENTRY INSURANCE and BASSETT MECHANICAL will host the program tracks focusing on Workplace Safety. 1:30PM Behavioral Based Safety: The 21st Century Approach Dr. Daniel J. Moran, Ph.D., BCBA-D | Founder of Pickslyde Consulting Behavioral-Based Safety (BBS) is a scientifically proven method for reducing incidents and injuries in the workplace. Implementing the BBS approach to safety will make a critical impact on the actions of your employees and managers. This introductory course will help you understand the foundation for a safer work culture. We will discuss important questions, such as: What are the crucial factors of a Behavior-Based Safety program? What are the likely results from this safety process? What are the practical steps that we can take to ensure safety? The presentation will highlight the successful changes that have been made to traditional BBS to help ensure that workers are comfortable with this reliable and trustworthy approach to improving safety. 3:15PM Human Error: There is No Root Cause Richard Pollock | President at CLMI Safety Training Most incidents in the workplace are the result of human error, and with the benefit of hindsight it is easy to see the behaviors involved and what went wrong. However, there are often multiple factors that influenced the behavior, especially in the context of work. All too often, inexperienced investigators focus on the behavior involved and proximate cause, failing to explore organizational and system design issues and their potential for behavioral influence. Their conclusion about the root cause is often incomplete, so corrective actions fall short and are not sustainable. This session will explore the reasoning of researchers in human factors Sydney Dekker, Erik Hollnagel and others about why, in the end, there can be no reliable single root cause.
