3 M I D -Y E A R R E P O R T 2 016 IT Alliance, directory of companies, attracting talent among priorities in 2016 Jerry Murphy New North, Inc. Executive Director What an accomplished year — and we are only halfway through! In the first six months of 2016, New North has already seen a tremendous amount of success, progress and opportunity. With strong partnerships, an increasingly diversified region and a vast number of collaborators, we fully expect to see continued success throughout the rest of the year. Our work in progress includes: • Early organization of an Information Technology (IT) Alliance of business, academic institutions and IT peer groups to address current and anticipated shortages in IT talent throughout the region. • Phase two of our Supply Chain Marketplace initiative now starts with the 300 firms that have joined this online directory of regional companies. We are partnering with the Midwest Energy Research Consortium (MWERC) and the Wisconsin Economic Development Corporation (WEDC) to bring those firms to new business opportunities in the energy marketplace. • Branding has taken on the challenge of recruiting talent to the region. is work is in early stages, but it will be anchored by the bounty of regional assets elevated in the recently completed recruiting section of the New North website, Life in the New North. We may be only halfway through the year, but our success is in large part due to the strong partnerships and collaborators throughout the region. Stay tuned.
