It has seven U.S. and European patents, five patents pending, and has developed hundreds of proprietary alloys. Insight Innovation Award judges noted, "Winsert is an industry leader in innovation, customer focus and market disruption, putting the Marinette community first." ey recognized the company's innovative alloy solutions for large global manufacturers, its new research and development facility and "A" supplier ratings from Volvo, GE Energy, Daimler, Rolls Royce, Cummins, Harley Davidson and John Deere. Established in 1977 by Stephen A. Dickinson, Winsert now employs 205. In 1992, through his visionary leadership, Dickinson instituted the Winsert, Inc. Research and Development department which has allowed the company to provide more diverse product offerings and alloy solutions. Winsert's R&D lab, led by Chief Metallurgist Xuecheng Liang, continues to be a cornerstone for the company's growth strategy. To support the company's commitment to innovation and to continue being a leading global provider of innovative alloy solutions, Winsert invested in a new R&D facility, which opened in May adjacent to its headquarters in Marinette. e Winsert R&D Center of Excellence features state-of- the-art equipment to support and enhance capabilities in the areas of wear simulation, mechanical property testing, corrosion testing, alloy development and alloy benchmarking. Winsert also has locations in Germany and partners in China to support its growth. A key result of the company's innovation is a significant increase in sales.Winsert enjoyed double- digit increases in total sales in 2014 and 2015 and it anticipates 2016 to be even stronger. Winsert's commitment to operational excellence has garnered numerous awards, including the Governor's Export Achievement Award, Wisconsin Manufacturing Awards of Distinction in 2014 and the Wisconsin Export Manufacturer of the Year (2001 and 2012).
