THE 2012 EXECUTIVE EDGE John Macco Macco Financial Group Twelve weeks. One hundred and seven competitors. One Goal – promote healthy lifestyles through personal example. The Executive Edge is a competition designed to encourage leaders of organizations to make healthy changes to their lifestyles over the course of three months. Those who have what it takes to "lead well" are given both a fitness and health risk assessment in early January. Participants receive their results immediately and have a chance to ask questions and set goals. The same assessments are performed again in early April. The fitness assessment focuses on cardiovascular endurance, muscular strength, muscular endurance, body composition, flexibility, balance, and waist and hip measurements. It also takes into account blood pressure, height and weight. The test takes about 20 minutes and is performed by a certified personal trainer at Western Racquet and Fitness Club. The health risk assessment, provided by Prevea Health, is a 30 minute test performed before the fitness assessment. A fasting blood test is performed measuring glucose, triglycerides, HDL, LDL and total cholesterol. Blood pressure, BMI, body fat percentage, height and weight are also part of the test. Each contestant is asked a series of lifestyle questions by a health coach, including nutrition, fitness and stress related questions. At the end of the questionnaire, each person receives their score, has an opportunity to ask questions and set goals for the next 12 weeks. SPONSORED BY Photography provided by Great Scott Images
