As part of the ceremony, ironworkers raised a flag at the building's highest point, once the final girder was in place. In the past, builders celebrated the moment a building reaches its topmost point as a way to bestow good luck or ward off evil spirits. In modern times, the event serves as an opportunity to thank the workforce and celebrate progress made. e ceremony is celebrated by builders the world over and historians have found evidence of the tradition dating back to ancient Egypt. e new regional distribution center in Grand Chute is expected to be completed by summer of 2016. e building will house the 200 employees currently working at Werner Electric's Neenah facility and provide space for additional new employees. Werner expects to add roughly 90 jobs over the next few years. Werner Electric Supply employs more than 350 people in 11 locations throughout Wisconsin and Upper Peninsula of Michigan. — Sean P.
