✯ ✯ ✯ ✯ ✯ NEW MANUFACTURING ALLIANCE All Star FUTURE ALL STARS GET A BOOST FROM NMA SCHOLARSHIP FUND T he NEW Manufacturing Alliance is sponsoring four $1,000 scholarships for graduating high school seniors to attend one of the New North technical colleges.The four New North colleges are Fox Valley, Lakeshore, Moraine Park and Northeast Wisconsin technical colleges. What's most interesting about your job? Continuous improvement and developing others, making a difference. What kind of training prepared you with the necessary skills? Associate degree in computer programming from Lakeshore Technical College, on-the- job experience, and Johnsonville offers courses that help strengthen skills you already have. How did you decide on a career path? I've tried many other jobs. At first, I didn't know this was my career path until I was exposed to the many challenging activities. What advice would you give students who are undecided on a career field? Continue your education. It will build knowledge and skills that will be required for any career. grooming the next generation of manufacturing All Stars. Scholarship winners are individuals who will be enrolling in an associate degree program in one of the manufacturing programs at the four technical colleges. The 2009/2010 scholarship winners are Tyler Buchholz, who will attend Northeast Wisconsin Technical College's machine tool- CNC technical program; Derrick Green, who will attend Fox Valley Technical College's industrial welding technician program; Joe Vogel, who will attend Lakeshore Technical College's mechanical design technology program; and Jacob Matznick, who will attend Moraine Park Technical College's mechanical design technology program. "What got me on the track of choosing this as a major was my experience with LTC Tyler Buchholz, who will attend NWTC's machine tool-CNC technical program, receives his scholarship from George Semenak of Georgia-Pacific. "Taking this plant tour gave me a better concept of what I will be learning in school, and what my future may be like. I also shadowed a class at NWTC to get an idea of what classes will be like and to familiarize myself with the campus," says Buchholz. for a high school chopper project," says Vogel.
