prepared for. Indeed, the tool can even
simulate resumé building and the job
application process.
"From a business perspective, it
can tell those students who you are
and what kind of jobs are associated
with what you do," Milka says.
"at gives the kids the ammunition
they need to make choices about
their future."
In its first year, with seven area
school systems participating, Your
Future Fox Cities had:
» 298 students create profiles and
explore career options at different
companies
» 356 professionals available for
interactions ranging from job shadows
to classroom speaking engagements
» 165 businesses enroll and offer
opportunities for students to learn
about their company and career
options
» 2,956 students learn about local
career opportunities from more than
180 speakers
» 91 students take part in job
shadows
For companies such as A to Z
Machine or Bemis, it's a chance
to show students myriad career
opportunities that exist under the
broader heading of manufacturing.
"ere are really a lot of great
STEM career opportunities in the
Fox Valley," says Michele Martin,
volunteer outreach administrator
for Bemis, who helps coordinate job
shadows using Your Future Fox Cities.
"ey don't need to go to Chicago
or New York. ere is innovation
happening right here."
For Preissner, it's a chance to open a
few eyes and keep his company ahead
of those demographic curves.
"For the students, they get a reliable
preview of what a career will be like,"
he says. "For us, we make contact with
a potential candidate."
