22 United Way Fox Cities | 1,800 adults and children had their basic needs met in shelter and remained safe from homelessness and/or domestic violence. United Way by the Numbers United Way-supported programs impact 1 in 3 people in the Fox Cities and address our community's greatest needs. In 2013, because of your generous gift... 23,893 referrals were made to residents of 10 local counties seeking essential health and human services through United Way 2-1-1 call center. 16,793 rides were given through The Connector to people who needed transportation for second- and third- shift jobs. 2,000 children in struggling families received diapers from the Fox Cities Diaper Bank. More than 400,000 diapers were given to organizations for distribution to local low-income families. 806 students, who were unable to obtain mental health services elsewhere in the community, were served by United Way's PATH for Students program. 81% of the students who have been served by the program reported progress toward treatment goals and 96% said they would return to therapy if needed. 51% who were helped by a United Way- supported program increased their level of income or employment. youth benefited from structured afterschool programs. 5,800 8,096 adults and children received mental health counseling and support services. 82% had an appointment within five days and 83% reported reduced symptoms. 2,300 children ages 6 and under received free or reduced- price dental services. 92% of parents who participated in United Way-supported programs reported using more effective, positive disciplinary techniques and 99% reported reading to their children.
