F PLANT|nEWs Amerequip lAunches phAse two of expAnsion Amerequip broke ground in April on the second phase of a major expansion project, which will add 35,000 square feet to its manufacturing facility in Kiel. The expansion will add to a 70,000-square-foot plant expansion that began earlier in April to consolidate Amerequip's welding operations into a state-of-the-art facility. This second phase expands the firm's manufacturing capabilities at the Plant 3-Kiel location. This expansion further enhances Amerequip's final assembly capacity, giving the firm greater flexibility as it grows into new markets. In addition to 60 employees hired with the first expansion, 40 team members will be added with the second expansion, which will be phased in over the balance of this year. "We are experiencing tremendous growth with our current clients and want to ensure we have the capacity and the trained workforce available to continue to meet that demand," says Mike VanderZanden, president and CEO of Amerequip. The company's sales are expected to grow by more than 75 percent over the next 24 months. The cost of both phases of expansion is $7.7 million. Construction of phase one is expected to be completed in September, and phase two will be operational by November. Gov. Scott Walker was among those who participated in a ceremonial groundbreaking for the second-phase project. The Wisconsin Economic Development Corporation approved job creation tax credits and the city of Kiel created a tax incentive district (TID) to help make the Amerequip project possible. Amerequip is a designer and manufacturer of custom equipment for the lawn, landscape, agricultural and construction markets. The firm's products, produced in three locations by more than 200 employees, are sold worldwide. tDs instAlls fiber optics in GrAnD chute business pArk TDS Telecom of Madison announced that construction is underway on a $750,000 fiber network in Grand Chute.
