Mission accomplished. e event's keynote speaker is Doug Lipp, an internationally recognized expert on customer service, change management and leadership who was previously head of training at Disney's corporate headquarters. he'll be preceded by Craig Culver, CEO of Culver's, and Mindspan Consulting President Lori Cross, who will lead an interactive workshop that focuses on the art of influence and motivation using research about the inner-workings of the brain. "It's an interesting mix of speakers," says Jenny Knuth, president of YPFDL and art director at EPIC Creative. "We have the local touch with Craig Culver, an actual success story. We have the workshop feel with Lori – it's more than just people talking at you. We picked Lori and Doug specifically because they're known for trying to get people engaged." Leaderfest, set June 4 at the Leadership style Six regional young professionals groups plan annual gathering June 4 University of Wisconsin-Fond du Lac, is in its eighth year and brings together innovative professionals from the new north region. Each year, the day-long event is hosted by one of the region's six young professionals organizations, all of which have ties to their respective chambers of commerce. While the networking groups target those between the ages of 21 to 40, they welcome any interested professionals. e Leaderfest 2014 theme, "Dare to Dream Differently," is designed to resonate with young professionals. "It really comes down to motivating people and having that energy: the whole concept of Disney and Disney U, and training and management style," Knuth says. "Lori's workshop gives a little bit of the science of the brain and how to use that to motivate and influence. It all came back to innovation and igniting passion and inspiring people to do great things." Leaderfest is meant to foster the collaborative nature of young professionals in the new north region, says Katie Leist, director of communications for the Fond du Lac Area Association of Commerce and the association's liaison to YPFDL. "It's a gathering to focus on leadership, networking and professional development," she says.
