22 | I nsIgh t • F e b r u a r y 2 0 14 w w w . i n s i g h t o n b u s i n e s s . c o m U P F R O N T T he northeast Wisconsin Chambers Coalition hosts its 2014 Legislative Dialogue Breakfast Feb. 17, bringing community leaders and elected officials together over a hot meal to discuss ways to warm Wisconsin's business climate. e event, which has been conducted by the coalition for 12 years, serves as a meeting ground for members of the chambers and community leaders in business, government and education. gov. scott Walker has confirmed he will attend and other elected officials have been invited. "When dealing with legislative matters we have found there is very little difference in the positions taken by our business community and those in green Bay, Oshkosh or Finding common ground Northeast Wisconsin Chambers Coalition meets Feb. 17 the coalition supports a statewide program to recruit and retain skilled/ talented employees to Wisconsin." e coalition will also use the event to recognize Wisconsin politicians who have backed pro-business legislation by awarding them with the 2014 northeast Wisconsin Chambers Coalition Friend of Business Award. e coalition includes members from the green Bay Area Chamber of Commerce, the Fox Cities Chamber of Commerce, the Waupaca Area Chamber of Commerce, the Fond du Lac Area Association of Commerce and the Oshkosh Chamber of Commerce. ey represent more than 5,000 businesses, which in turn, employ more than 300,000 Wisconsin residents. "In fact it has helped a great deal when we are speaking to area legislators when we can say that our position is the same as the other business communities throughout northeast Wisconsin." Reitemeier says coalition members plan to discuss issues facing the workforce, elections, taxation and regulation, transportation, economic development and human resources. e meeting will not be used to discuss specific legislation. "e agenda is meant to share our business members' concerns in a broader context," says om Ciske, vice president of government affairs for the Fox Cities Chamber of Commerce. "As an example, in the area of workforce development, Shannon Full, president and CEO of the Fox Cities Chamber of Commerce, speaks at a previous Legislative Dialogue Breakfast. The next breakfast is planned for Feb. 17.
