As we have moved to focus on community impact, our Ogre has become an allegory that helps people understand how we want to make changes in community conditions. If you have not been introduced to the Ogre, he is included in this edition, along with the story of a village that works together to improve lives. Like the village where our Ogre resides, our United Way is working in the Fox Cities to go upstream to meet the Ogre and address community issues. We use the Fox Cities LIFE Study as one of our resources to help identify the "Ogre" — our community issues. In 2012 we named four priority issues, which are now areas of focus for our work: • roviding parenting skills that will strengthen families P • aking sure children enter kindergarten ready to learn M • mproving employment and workforce skills I • upporting mental health systems S I invite you to read about United Way Fox Cities and the impact your investment is making in the Fox Cities.
