Madison Gas and Electric is a co-owner of the 150 megawatt Two Creeks Solar facility with Wisconsin Public Service. Two Creeks Solar features 500,000 solar panels across 800 acres in Manitowoc County. "We are excited that Two Creeks Solar is now generating cost-effective, carbon- free energy for all our customers," said Jeff Keebler, chairman, president and CEO of MGE. "Growing our use of renewable resources is a key strategy for achieving our goal of net-zero carbon electricity by the year 2050. e completion of Two Creeks Solar is an important step in our ongoing transition toward decarbonization." NextEra Energy Resources LLC developed and built Two Creeks Solar in partnership with MGE and WPS. Construction began in August 2019. Many of the facility's components, including its half-million panels, were installed this spring and summer. Two Creeks is located in the town of Two Creeks and the city of Two Rivers. Consistent with the latest climate science, MGE is targeting net-zero carbon electricity by 2050. e company continues to work toward carbon reductions of at least 40 percent by 2030 consistent with the Paris Agreement. To reach its carbon- reduction goals, MGE is growing its use of renewable energy, engaging customers around energy efficiency and facilitating the electrification of transportation. • THE NORTHWOODS Florence, Marinette, Menominee, Oconto Counties ChemDesign wraps construction on new Marinette technology center ChemDesign of Marinette completed construction of its new technology center. e 26,000-square-foot facility was developed and built by Keller Inc. and houses multiple functional areas that will serve as the centerpiece and communication hub for the company. e center includes engineering offices, support staff offices, quality control and process development laboratories. It also features locker rooms for chemical operators, training rooms and a spacious lunchroom. e facility was designed with an open plan and has room for 50 administrative employees and visiting contractors. e new labs feature state-of-the-art equipment with advanced safety features for ChemDesign's process support chemists and quality control analysts. ChemDesign now offers dedicated, collaborative spaces for customers and visitors to work while on site. e new building includes a visitor reception area, customer conference rooms, meeting rooms and a media center. e meeting rooms feature the latest in audiovisual and internet technologies. e new building allows future site expansion through the repurposing of the previous labs to additional production space.
