Students at Two Rivers High School work on
building a mini-chopper, a project aimed
to help feature manufacturing as a sound
career choice.
After months of design, collaboration
and construction, four Project MiniChopper student teams sponsored by
area companies unveiled choppers at
the Manitowoc County Ice Center.
The Chamber of Manitowoc
County and the Economic
Development Corporation of
Manitowoc County partnered with
local businesses and the county school
districts to help students learn skills
in manufacturing through Project
Mini-Chopper. The mission of Project
Mini-Chopper is to help students,
parents, educators and members
of the community understand that
manufacturing provides excellent
career opportunities.
Throughout the school year, 66
students from four schools gained
real-life experience by working handin-hand with their corporate sponsors
to design, fabricate (and troubleshoot)
the bikes, as well as manage the
budget, schedule and overall project
for each one.
