Lanehub Inc. changed how shippers and carriers do business. The Green Bay startup launched by Mark Hackl developed a platform that creates an improved way to use assets and resources, find efficiencies, save on shipping expenses and build partnerships between shippers and carriers. After working in the logistics industry for several years, Hackl developed Lanehub. Through its artificial intelligence and special algorithms, the platform assesses the viability of every single move by calculating cost savings and proposing new opportunities. The social network aspect of the platform creates peer-to-peer transparency and generates trust between collaborators so they feel more comfortable working together. Since the business started in 2016, more than 150 shippers have uploaded freight data and lanes, representing $23 billion in transportation spend to Lanehub's platform. Earlier this year, Hackl sold Lanehub to Texas-based Transplace, a leader in the global logistics industry, opening the door to an unrivaled network of carriers and shippers. Lanehub will remain in Green Bay and continue to operate as it did previously. "What Lanehub did is the goal of every entrepreneur. Have a great idea, scale it and sell it," said one of the Innovation Award judges.
