2020 AWA RD W INNE RS Innovation as a uniting force This year has offered up a lot of upheaval with the coronavirus pandemic and resulting economic slump, the upcoming election, destructive wildfires in Australia, murder hornets and the list goes on. When reflecting on those challenges, a quote from Steve Jobs popped into my head: "Innovation is the ability to see change as an opportunity, not a threat." It's definitely true we've been surrounded by innovation this year whether it's been good, bad or somewhere in between as businesses and organizations had to determine how to get through the many challenges as they struggled to keep the lights on. The 2020 Insight Innovation Awards themselves required innovation. A panel of judges looked through the nominations in February and chose the winners. The in-person event was planned for early May as in previous years, but then the pandemic arrived, bringing everything to a halt. Taking an in-person event and changing it to a virtual event is not easy, but we came up with a plan that still allowed a keynote presentation by Craig Dickman, managing director of TitletownTech, and a way for us to celebrate the five winners. Since we couldn't hand out the awards in front of a large group, account executive Stephanie Crowe and I visited all five winners to present the awards in person.
