For Mary Kohrell, community economic development director for Calumet County, it's a favorite stop for a bite to eat or a hot or cold beverage. "It has a really good vibe. I love the feel of it," she says. "ere's always people there, so it's vibrant." e cafe, which is open Tuesday through Saturday, features sandwiches, wraps, paninis, soups, salads and all-day breakfast options. Kohrell, who leans toward vegetarian choices, favors the Pesto Melt, $10.50. e panini is served on focaccia and includes spinach, roasted red peppers, tomatoes, kalamata olives, pesto, provolone, parmesan and balsamic vinaigrette. For those who prefer meat, the Spiced Pecan Chicken Wrap, $10.50, features fajita chicken, spiced pecans, tomatoes, red onion and blue cheese dressing. All sandwiches include a side. Established in 2006, mother-daughter team Julie and Taylor Parsons opened the cafe with the vision of creating a community gathering place that serves delicious and nutritious food, and Kohrell says they've accomplished just that. It's become a destination for young and old alike. — Jessica iel
