PLANT|NEWS cour tesy of Manitowoc Crane DOT grant aids McNeilus Steel expansion Manitowoc's 1400A boom truck is becoming synonymous with tree care. Reaching new heights Manitowoc's National Crane had a lead role at the recent Tree Care Industry Association's national expo in Baltimore, Md. The company exhibited a 1400A boom truck, a product that is becoming synonymous with tree care. The displayed crane was delivered to H&E Equipment, one of the largest Manitowoc dealers in the country. The company sold the crane quickly after the expo. The use of the 1400A boom truck has steadily grown in the tree care industry over the last few years. It features a 29.9 ton lift capacity, but packs that power into a truck-size chassis, making it extremely maneuverable both on the job site and from job-to-job. Its five-section, 127foot boom enables operators to reach tall tree tops with ease. 28 | / insight on manufacturing • March 2013 The Wisconsin Department of Transportation awarded a $600,000 transportation economic assistance grant for rail improvements to serve McNeilus Steel.
