Originally, the Y consisted of a reading room, small gymnasium, parlor and game room. A lot has changed in the years since. The Y has grown to five locations throughout the Fox Cities and includes multiple pools, fitness facilities and classrooms for a variety of educational programming. As times and needs in the community have changed, the Y has stayed a mission-driven organization, focusing on helping people of all ages, races, religions and income levels. From our onsite before and after school programs, to martial arts classes and ballroom dance lessons, we offer something for every member of the community. Our programs are constantly growing and developing to offer members and families the best experience. In addition to our youth and family-focused programs, the Y is proud to partner with companies throughout the Fox Valley to enhance their own workplace wellness initiatives. We work together to develop a healthier community through onsite fitness classes, health education and membership discounts. Our success is made possible by the generous support of our members, volunteers, staff and community. Here at the Y, we know that we are more than a gym, we are a community. That's what has been bringing members in for the last 130 years, and that's what will keep us going for 130 more. Our five Fox Cities Y locations are Apple Creek in north Appleton, Neenah-Menasha, Fox West in Greenville, Heart of the Valley in Kimberly and downtown Appleton. The Y also operates Camp Nan A Bo Sho in Lakewood. INFORMATION THE FOX CITIES 229 E. COLLEGE AVE. You have an idea — whether it's a new product or service — and wonder if other people will find value in it. Entrepreneurs do what it takes to make their business work –— whether it's doing it on the side while holding another job or having their kitchen table double as their office. While some find success, the Small Business Administration says 30 percent of businesses will fail during their first two years, with the number climbing to 50 percent at year five. But for those businesses that succeed, each milestone — whether it is 10, 20, 40, 50 years or longer — deserves to be celebrated. At Insight, we celebrated our 10th anniversary last April – and trust me, we are still celebrating — and understand the excitement and sense of accomplishment that comes with marking a business anniversary. That's why we introduced the Anniversary Celebrations section last year. It provides a way for businesses to share their stories and celebrate their achievements. Entrepreneurs start their businesses for a number of reasons, whether it's because they see a demand for a product or service, have an idea that provides more value to a product already made or have a hobby or something they do on the side that they want to spend more time on. Each and every business has its own unique story of how it got started and found success. In these pages, you will read about some remarkable New North businesses celebrating their anniversaries. There are so many businesses throughout the New North that mark some impressive anniversaries in 2019, including Bank First celebrating its 125th birthday, Paper Converting Machine Co. marking its centennial and AZCO celebrating 70 years. Sit back and enjoy learning more about how some familiar businesses — and maybe ones you have never heard of — got their start, flourished and grew. These business achievements are something to be proud of and celebrated. At Insight, we plan to keep celebrating our 10th anniversary right up until March 31.
