I ensure all standard operating and safety procedures and good manufacturing standards are followed. Additionally, I coach and develop the members on my team on daily tasks and future career building. How did you decide on this career path? At my previous job, I held a leadership position, but I was looking for a career I could advance in. I did a lot of research on companies that shared similar values that I have, which led me to Johnsonville. What kind of education or training do you have? What prepared you for this job? I have some college classes from UW-Manitowoc and Northeast Wisconsin Technical College, and I am a certified Six Sigma Green Belt from Six Sigma Global Institute. I took additional Johnsonville classes that gave me the tools I needed to be a successful team leader. Are there any negative perceptions about manufacturing careers that you would like to change? I feel that many people think working in manufacturing is a dead-end job. I implement process improvement projects utilizing data and automation. What are the most interesting things about your job? Troubleshooting complex casting problems and developing new process methods. How did you decide on this career path? I've always been fascinated by how things were made and like the challenge provided by working in manufacturing. What kind of education or training do you have? What prepared you for this job? I have a bachelor's degree from the University of Wisconsin-Platteville in manufacturing technology management with minors in metals and plastic processing. Internships and co-ops provided hands-on skills and experience before graduating college. What kind of technology do you use and interact with? Industrial robots, programmable logic controllers (PLCs) and aluminum melting furnaces.
