back office Getting connected Social media for manufacturers: Bassett Mechanical���s experience by jason Raisleger ���Social media allows us to showcase the culture and people that make up Bassett Mechanical in ways that were very difficult before.��� -Jason Raisleger, marketing coordinator at Bassett Mechanical In 2010, we had the idea that there was probably something to this ���social media thing.��� It seemed like most people were using Facebook, Twitter or watching YouTube, so we should probably be there, too. It was great because we had a lot of cool photos to share that we had been saving up for years, and now this was the perfect time to unleash them. Unfortunately for us, unless you are a diver working offshore, pictures of 20 | Insight on Manufacturing ��� January 2013 a pressure vessel for human occupancy (PVHO) probably don���t interest you a whole lot. As manufacturers in a B2B environment, we do a lot of integral work that just isn���t very exciting to the majority of social media users. Unlike consumer brands, most of our products don���t have an emotional attachment, so it is difficult to get our audience engaged. We discovered some roadblocks and also some opportunities that will help guide us as we further develop our social media plan.
