Now that demolition is complete, the site will be redeveloped into the new home for WG&R Furniture, a family-owned business with nine locations in northeastern Wisconsin. e initial phase of the $4 million redevelopment project includes a 94,000-square-foot store for WG&R. Future phases of development on the 28-acre site include additional high- quality retail and restaurant tenants, and possibly a hotel or an outpatient medical facility. Construction of WG&R Furniture's new store is expected to be completed in 2019. e grant comes from WEDC's Idle Sites Redevelopment Program, which was created in 2013 and stimulates investment and job creation at idle, abandoned and underutilized manufacturing sites that cannot be redeveloped solely by the private sector due to their scale and complexity. e grants may be used for demolition, environmental remediation or site- specific improvements defined in the community's redevelopment plan. e goal of the program is to advance the site to shovel-ready status or to enhance the site's market attractiveness to encourage business growth. Army places $484 million order for 1,500-plus Oshkosh Defense JLTVs Oshkosh Defense announced the U.S. Army placed a $484 million order for 1,574 Joint Light Tactical Vehicles and associated installed and packaged kits. "is latest order follows the completion of the Multiservice Operational Test and Evaluation conducted by the U.S. Army and Marine Corps and further demonstrates that the JLTV program continues to be a top modernization priority for our armed services," George Mansfield, vice president and general manager of Joint Programs at Oshkosh Defense, said in a release. In addition to the recent operational testing, the JLTV completed Reliability Qualification Testing earlier this year, accumulating more than 100,000 miles and exceeding reliability requirements. To date, Oshkosh has produced more than 2,000 JLTVs and has delivered more than 1,600 JLTVs to the U.S. Army and Marine Corps. • WEST CENTRAL Shawano, Waupaca, Waushara, Marquette, Green Lake Counties Waupaca council approves apartment complex construction The Waupaca Common Council has approved a 48-unit apartment complex to be built in the city's East Gateway district, off Commercial Drive and Webster Way, near the State Highway 22/54 bypass. The council voted unanimously to approve a developer's agreement between Waupaca and developer Premier Real Estate Management. The project, which is expected to start this summer, is on target for completion in 2019. The complex will feature four 12-unit buildings, and each unit will have two bedrooms and two bathrooms as well as laundry and an attached garage.
